New Ride

It's here, it's finally here! After a very long wait my new car is FINALLY here. And I LOVE it!!!
It's a beautiful blue 2002 cross country Volvo with leather interior, heated seats, a sunroof, and power everything. Oh and it has a CD player! :-D Yes, I'm well aware it's a bit silly to be excited over a CD player considering the vast technology we have in this day in age. None the less I am stoked! I've never had a car with a CD player before so I'm thrilled, tickled even. lol
Also, my car has four wheel drive. Meaning during the randomly crazy winter storms(Snowmagedon) I won't have to worry so much about getting stuck. How nice is that?

Anywho, I just have one dilemma. What should I name it?

I named my first car, white Toyota Corolla, Tink because I love Tinkerbell and it just fit. My second car, sticking with the Peter Pan theme, I named Rufio. Rufio's name came about because my friend Kelly and I went to a pirate corn maze shortly after I bought the car. I didn't know what to name it but wanted something from Peter Pan and with the pirate theme of that day. I had already named my GPS Peter cause my first GPS, Wendy, was stolen. Ironically enough Wendy was stolen out of my car Tink. Haha get it? Cause Tink doesn't like Wendy in the movie. :-P Anyway, I couldn't reuse any of those names cause that's just seems wrong to me. But I did feel like the car was a guy. So Kelly started rattling off names. First she said, "Hook" but I thought the car had to be red for that and mine was blue. Then she said "Smee", but I jsut didn't like Smee. I think she said one or two others but they weren't right either. Then she paused and turned to look at me and said, "Rufio..Rufio..RuFiOOOOOO!!!". I was like "That's it! That's my car.". And of course, like in the movie Hook, Rufio's life was cut short. :-(

My new car has quite a bit to live up to eh? lol But I need a name for it. I just don't know though. Should I try to stick with Peter Pan again or should I finally cut the cord to that and start fresh?
Hmmm....decisions decisions.

Let me know what you think?

You need to update this post and tell us what name you decided on! ;) Lol, but @Christine, I like the "mom name"... it is a very mom-looking car. :)

That’s a great looking car! It looks pretty formidable on the road, haha! If you want to stick with the Peter Pan theme, may I suggest naming it the Jolly Roger? Or you could name it after one of the Lost Boys from the original JM Barrie novel! This car looks like a Nibs or a Tootles. If you want to drop the Peter Pan theme, maybe you could adopt a new Disney movie to name it after! Merida from “Brave” looks like a great fit for this new car!

It’s been two months since you posted this blog. I’m just curious if you have already decided on the appropriate name for your car. Well, if you want to stick to Peter Pan theme, why don’t you just call it Peter? Since he played the major character and is a good man in the story. If you don’t want to stick to the Peter Pan’s theme anymore, you can name it Jack or Mickey. I also suggest that you name it after a person close to your heart. On my part, I named my car after my childhood friend, Alexis.

Giving names to our cars is an endearing thing we can do to our vehicles. It’s like treating them like our kids. We give them names and take care of them for they play a significant part in our lives. If you have not yet decided on what name to give you car, I suggest that you name it after a special person who made a remarkable thing in your life. Doing this can motivate you to take care of your car and regularly clean it. For it will always remind you of the person you love.

I totally agree with Carry. Naming something that we own connotes a sense of familial possession or ownership of it, and we stop treating it as a mere object. It becomes a part of us, and a part of the family. I agree with Ernest’s name suggestion, by the way. Maybe, you should name this after a Disney princess! How about Mulan?
